  • Dr. Datta is engaged in both under-graduate and post-graduate teaching in the Department of Physiology, Rammohan College, since 1983 and 2006, respectively.

He has 27 publications in national & international journals, two book chapters, and several conference proceedings. He has guided several PG students for dissertation.

He has served as HOD and Course Co-ordinator for PG course.

He has served as an elected member of the UG council of University of Calcutta for two consecutive tenures.

  • Keeping in mind the social issues associated with the lack of safe drugs at affordable rate, and the lack of healthy sustainable lifestyle; Dr. Datta is interested in research involving the prevalence of lifestyle induced non-communicable diseases in the society, the risk factors associated with it and the role of nutraceuticals in the prevention of these diseases. Study involving green synthesis of nanoparticles and their efficacy in preventing diseases is also one of the fascinating fields of his research. This could lead to new arena of research in nutraceuticals and their efficacy in preventing lifestyle induced several diseases.

Dr. Datta is also interested in research involving sports & exercise physiology and oxidative stress arising in athletes from eastern India, due to over-training and the role of antioxidant vitamin supplementation and diet counselling in preventing oxidative damage. Variation in body composition along with physiological and anthropometric parameters of players playing at different position has also been his another field of exploration.
