Central Library

About the Library

Rammohan College Central Library is well equipped with books on each subject and with periodicals, magazines of generalized and specialized interest. Teachers and students equally benefit from the library. At present the library has a huge collection of books, reference books, magazines, newspapers etc. to provide various types of information to its users. The main objective of the library is to disseminate information to the faculty, research scholars, students, teaching and non-teaching staff of this college.

Along with the central library, seminar libraries are also maintained by the various departments. The Departmental libraries have been built up to provide easy access to books to the students. The departmental libraries consist mainly of text books and a few reference books. Students can borrow books from the Departmental Library with the permission of the concerned teacher of the Department.

Library software KOHA has already been introduced.

An E-learning space is established separately within the library for the student as well as staff for accessing of web resources.

Library Rules

General Rules:

  1. A student can take ONE [1] book at a time for SEVEN [7] days against Book Home Issue Card.
  2. A student can reissue the book for another seven [7] days if she submit the book within scheduled date and if there is no such demand for the said book.
  3. A student can reissue the book for maximum two (2) times.
  4. A fine of Rs.1.00 will be charged per book per day.
  5. Books lost, damaged in any other way shall be replaced by the borrower.
  6. Books lent out to the students may be recalled at any time by the Librarian.
  7. Loss of Library Cards must immediately be reported to the Librarian in writing, failing which the student concerned will be held responsible for all subsequent misuse of the same.
  8. A fine of Rs.30/- will be charged for issuing a duplicate Library Card.
  9. No student can enter the Library without Library Card.
  10. General Reference Books (e.g. dictionary, encyclopedia), Subject Reference Books, Magazines, Newspapers etc. are not allowed to issue for home. Members may consult these within the Library with special permission.
  11. Library Clearance would not be issued without Library Cards.
  12. Complete discipline and silence must be maintained in the Library. Gossiping, sleeping and using Mobile phone shall be treated as cases of misconduct.

Library Timing

  1. Opens on 7a.m and closes on 12p.m [Monday- Friday]
  2. Opens on 7a.m and closes on 10:30 a.m [Saturday]

Day Of Book Issue:

B.A :- Wednesday
B.SC :- Monday & Tuesday
B.Com :- Friday
Day of Book Return:- Any working day at the scheduled time.



All Library members (Students, teachers, Non-teaching staff) may borrow book(s) from the Library.

Reading room:

Student can take maximum 2 books at a time for reading purpose through their Reading Room card.

Online E-Resource:

Through INFLIBNET-NLIST Consortium anyone can access huge number of e-books and electronic journals.

Open access:

Open access system has already been introduced through which members can go to the rack directly and choose their required book.

Internet & Wi-Fi:

We have also internet facilities. Members of the Library may use the computer for browsing the world-wide information in his/her specific topic through e-learning Centre. Faculties can browse Wi-Fi services through laptop and mobile devices.

Reference service:

This type of service is given to the members throughout the Library hours.

Career Guidance cell:

Books relating to the different competitive examination and current events, news, information for career/service and other documents are available for consultation only in the reading room. The College Library subscribes the following:

Reprography/Photocopy Service:

A student can photocopy maximum 20 pages of a book @0.50 paisa per page. But outside documents will not be copied from the library. Printing Services: - The Library has two (2) Canon copier-scanner-printer machine. Faculties can print documents from the library for their academic purposes.
