Bachelor of Arts [BA] {Hons} (Education) course introduces the early childhood education, professionalism and planning intentional developmentally appropriate experiences for each child, and the diverse educational settings for young children. Major topics in this course include: Theoretical foundations, National early learning standards, NC foundations for early learning and development, State regulations, Program types, Professionalism, Ethical conduct, Quality inclusive environments, and Research & Innovations.
This course also includes the theories of child development, assessment, and observation, milestones and factors that develop from conception. Students will able to compare typical developmental characteristics. Based on emphasis, students will learn knowledge, assessment, and observation of developmental sequences in approaches to play or learn health or physical, emotional or social, language or communication, and cognitive domains.
Graduates in this field, work in areas like central government departments, museums, community and voluntary organizations, social services, the police and probation services, and universities. They may also get opportunities with both private and public sectors in a range of careers such as retail management, HR, publishing, market and policy research, career guidance and education psychology.

Advance Study: Candidates who have interest in this education field may also do Masters Course in Education or B.Ed. or a related Social science in order to develop their understanding in research, theory, and policies of Education and also to enhance their interpersonal skills and professional knowledge.

Report Summary
The workshop was started at 10 am. More than eighty (80) students/ scholars from various universities and colleges have attended this workshop. Dr. Madhab Ghosh, the HOD has given the welcome note. A special talk was delivered by Prof. Antara Mukherjee. The resource person, Dr. Abhijit Guha was felicitated by the honorable Principal madam Dr. Saswati Sanyal. Dr. Samiran Mondal, the IQAC Convener and Dr. Saswati Sanyal, the honorable Principal ma’am, both have shared their brief and valuable opinion regarding the aim of this workshop. After that, sir Dr. Abhijit Guha has conducted the workshop. It was very engaging and effective session. All the participants have enjoyed the session. Dr. Madhab Ghosh has given the vote of thanks. The total programme was anchored by Dr. Mahfuz Alam & Prof. Soumi Mondal.

The Department of Education has always believed in quality Education and it has always tried to impart moral and ethical values in the students. The young minds are treated with special care by the faculty members. The department has always tried to provide maximum support to the students in every aspect for obtaining the teaching-learning goal. The Department of Education tries to provide following facilities to the students:
Throughout the year Department organizes various types of academic, cultural activities such as student centric seminar, group discussion, poster presentation, extempore speech for enriching the students. The Education Department has celebrated Teachers’ day and felicitated 1st, 2nd, and 3rd position holder in final year CU part-III examination, 2019.Departmental teachers are always counselling and encouraging the students for their future and specially higher education. Department has also organized one seminar in Rammohan Museum, Kolkata. Department also organizes Term paper presentations time to time.
Cent percent students were qualified in final year examination, 2020 with good academic scores and after that most of the students took admission in MA in Education in different universities and some of them students got the job in Govt. & Pvt. Sectors. One of the students ranked in merit list of Part-III examination, University of Calcutta.
One of the faculty members, Dr. Mahfuz Alam chaired a technical session in a National Level Online Seminar titled “Modern Education System and Future of India” on 27th July, 2020 organized by Gokhale Memorial Girls` College, Kolkata and delivered special lectures as the invited speaker in Aliah University, Lalgola College & Gokhale Memorial Girls College in 2022. He has also contributed several articles & book chapters on gender issues and school education in reputed publications.
Faculty member Dr. Madhab Ghosh has attended the International Research Conference held from 31st July – 2nd August, 2019 in London, UK and he presented a paper on ‘Trends of Researches on Teacher Education in India: A Review’. For this occasion he received Travel Grant (F. No. 6-170/2019(TG), 16th October, 2019) from UGC, New Delhi. He has also attended so many National and International seminar and published the research paper in National and International Journals.
